Volunteer Camps

A team of 20 volunteers participated in a design and build workshop where they designed and executed a vernacular playground for Udagirinallapanahalli school of Chikkaballapur district. They explored materials like Nilgiri Wood and CSEB blocks along with taking up beautification initiatives by painting murals on the walls of the village homes. The team demonstrated their  work at TSMR's Lakshya Competition for Student Social Initiatives and secured 2nd Place.

15 Students joined us from across the country for a design camp at Mandikal GHPS of Chikkaballapur district. The students were made to ideate a ride as a group by understanding the village context and scouting through available materials in and around the site. They then participated in the hands-on execution for the playground while learning how to work with Nilgiri wood joineries and other scrap material used in the playgrounds.

Bharati Vidyapeeth's architecture students joined us for a design camp at Darburu GHPS of Chikkaballapur district to get a hands-on experience of executing a vernacular playground. The students were introduced to an overall experience in the village from sourcing the timber from the permitted forests to understanding joineries for Nilgiri wood playgrounds.

Over 65 volunteers from Rotary Club of Bombay Pier and Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care - Ghatkopar Youth Group joined us to paint the walls of Royal City English High School at Dharavi. The artwork was designed and executed in collaboration with artists from the SICCA Collective.
