Reinforcing Nilgiri
As the design of the Nilgiri slide progressed to be a part of the vernacular playgrounds, we increased the stability of the ride by introducing scrap steel to the material palate. With limited resources and infrastructure, scrap steel was made reusable at a street-side blast furnace.

Reinventing oil drums
Another key strategy was to reuse oil drums that are often discarded from nearby industries, as rides in the vernacular playgrounds. The drums in combination with a Nilgiri frame were widely installed as tunnel-like slides. The chemical-lad drums are meticulously treated to transform them into safe slides.
